Poolside Helpers
We welcome anyone who is interested in helping our teachers poolside, so if you want to find out more read on. A poolside helper is often the first step towards a national teaching qualification, so if your getting bored watching from the galleries come on down, its more fun poolside.
Poolside Helpers Certificate
To match the continual growth of our club we are looking to expand our poolside teaching personnel by offering you the opportunity to gain the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Helper Certificate.
Pre-requisite:
Candidates must be 14 years of age at commencement of the course.
No previous experience necessary - honestly, just a general interest & willingness to get involved.
Role:
To help out on poolside under the guidance of a qualified ASA Teacher.
Aims:
- To equip candidates with very basic technical knowledge
- To equip candidates with a basic knowledge of safety
- To equip candidates with basic knowledge of skills to enable them to help in conducting a session led by an ASA Qualified Teacher.
- To equip candidates with basic knowledge of ASA Education & Training Structure.
- To equip candidates with basic knowledge of ASA competition structure.
- To equip candidates with basic knowledge of how club sessions are arranged.
- To equip candidates with knowledge of the benefits of swimming.
- To equip candidates with knowledge of Club expectations.
Method of assessment:
By verified attendance only. No examination or coursework!
Length of Course:
6- 8 hours of which at leas 80% will be practical poolside activities.
Costs:
BDSC will cover the course costs, expecting candidates to return a minimum period of commitment.
