Young Timekeepers Course
Tuesday 12th May, 2009
A note from our 'Main Man in White' Tom Baster.
Dear Colleagues,
The ASA has recently introduced a course designed to encourage young people to qualify as swimming officials.
The Young Timekeeper Course, for children aged 14-19, is a half-day introduction to officiating at galas. The course combines a basic theory session with some practical experience of timekeeping. On completion of the course, participants are awarded the full ASA Club Timekeeper qualification and are able to officiate at club and open meets, subject to them being members of the ASA.
The ASA East Region will be holding one of these courses on each weekend of their BAGCAT Championships on 6/7th and 13/14th June, at the UEA Sportspark, Norwich. I would be grateful if you could advertise this course within your club, using the attached documents. Whilst the venue may be a problem for some, particularly those in the London Region, the course may be of interest to older siblings of swimmers competing in regional BAGCAT championships, although anybody can apply.
Please note that the closing date for the submission of applications is May 27th. Both the forms are also available on the Essex County ASA website (www.essexswimming.org).
If you have any questions about this or any other matter please do not hesitate to contact me.
