Stuart Noyce and Dave Warriner fired Basildon back into business in Stratford on Monday night (18 May), sharing nine goals in this Essex League encounter.

Strong forward pressure by Basildon saw Otter players forced to commit a number of major fouls and the visitors capitalised on the advantage, scoring more than half of their goals while a man up.

Noyce netted five goals including a penalty, while left-hander Warriner added four in a good all-round display by the visitors, which included another confident performance by Basildon new boys Mark Spiller and Chris Byron.

For much of the game Basildon operated a well-worked drop defence, which blunted Otter's attacking options, and saw the visitors enter the fourth quarter 10-5 up, but a nervous final period saw the home side reduce the deficit.
